Is Carlos Alcaraz playing the French Open in 2027?

Facts checked November 2, 2026 by the French Open Insider editorial team

    Short answer

Not confirmed yet. Alcaraz, the 2024 and 2025 champion, missed Roland-Garros in 2026 with a right wrist injury (tenosynovitis), then returned pain-free at the 2026 US Open and is world No. 3. The 2027 entry list has not been published and he has said nothing about Paris 2027, so no one can confirm his entry yet.

Why did Alcaraz miss the French Open in 2026?

A right wrist injury. Alcaraz hurt the wrist in his first-round win over Otto Virtanen at the Barcelona Open on April 14, 2026, withdrew from Barcelona and later Madrid, and was diagnosed with tenosynovitis, an inflammation of the wrist's tendon sheath. On Friday April 24, 2026, as two-time defending champion, he announced he would miss Rome and Roland-Garros.

His statement: "We have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros." It was his first absence from a major since the 2023 Australian Open.
