How long does a French Open final last?
Men's finals are best of five sets, so they can run for hours. The 2025 final is the longest in the tournament's history: Carlos Alcaraz beat Jannik Sinner in 5 hours 29 minutes after saving three championship points, beating the 4 hours 42 minutes of the 1982 Wilander v Vilas final. In 2026 Alexander Zverev needed more than four hours and five sets to beat Flavio Cobolli, and the match ended around 7:45 p.m. Paris time. It was the third year in a row the men's final went to five sets.
Women's matches are best of three sets, so the final is usually much shorter: Mirra Andreeva won the 2026 final 6-3, 6-2. The shortest Grand Slam final of the Open Era was played here in 1988, when Steffi Graf beat Natasha Zvereva 6-0, 6-0 in 32 minutes of play.
Where can I watch the final on TV?
In the US, TNT Sports holds the rights under a 10-year deal that began in 2025, so it also has 2027, and every match streams on HBO Max. In 2026 both singles finals were shown at 9 a.m. Eastern. In the UK and Ireland, TNT Sports was the exclusive broadcaster in 2026. For other countries, see how to watch the French Open.
