The nearest métro station is Porte d'Auteuil (Line 10), about a five-minute walk from the gates; Michel-Ange–Auteuil (Lines 9 and 10) is roughly ten minutes away.
The venue has hosted the tournament since 1928 and is named after Roland Garros, a pioneering French aviator. Its three main show courts are Court Philippe-Chatrier (about 15,000 seats, with a retractable roof since 2020), Court Suzanne-Lenglen (about 10,000 seats, roofed since 2024), and Court Simonne-Mathieu (about 5,000 seats), set within that court's distinctive botanical greenhouses. A dozen outer courts — Courts 2 through 14 — host early-round singles, doubles, juniors, and wheelchair events, and are the reason a ground pass is such good value in the first week.
