Do children need a ticket for the French Open?
Facts checked November 2, 2026 by the French Open Insider editorial team
Short answer
Yes, from age 4. Children under 4 get in free without a seat: they sit on an accompanying adult's lap and get a wristband at the entrance. From 4, children pay full price, and the only youth discount we found is for under-25s (€15 for an Opening Week day in 2026). Strollers are not allowed in the stadium.
What are the age rules for French Open tickets?
These rules come from the Roland-Garros ticketing and travel pages. Each child aged 4 or over needs a ticket and counts toward the buyer's limit: in 2026 that was 4 tickets for the show courts, or 15 for Opening Week and Yannick Noah Day. The minimum age of 15 in the 2026 rules applies to entering the ticket draw, not to attending.
| Age | Ticket | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Under 4 | Free, no seat | Sits on an accompanying adult's lap; wristband given at the entrance |
| 4 and over | Full price | Needs their own ticket |
| Under 25 | Youth price on some days | In 2026, €15 instead of €29 for an Opening Week day |
Can I bring a stroller to Roland-Garros?
No. Strollers and pushchairs are not allowed in the stadium, and there are no lockers inside. Bags over 15 liters and banned items have to be left at one of the two free left-luggage points outside the grounds, before the security checkpoint. Ask there about strollers, or plan to carry a small child.
The metro stations nearest the stadium, Porte d'Auteuil and Michel-Ange Molitor, have stairs only. The nearest step-free stop is Pont du Garigliano (RER C and tram T3a). Our accessibility guide and getting there guide have the routes.
What is Yannick Noah Day?
It is the tournament's charity day, the former Kids' Day (Journée des enfants), created in 1977 and named after Yannick Noah since 2023. In 2026 it was on Saturday May 23, the day before the main draw, with tickets at €25 and proceeds to charity. It sold out with more than 23,000 spectators and raised a record €321,173.
The 2026 program included:
- "The Battle" on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Team Noah against Team Mauresmo
- "Play With a Kid", where children hit with players such as Sorana Cirstea and Stefanos Tsitsipas
- a legends match, plus wheelchair and blind tennis exhibitions
- "Play on Roland-Garros Clay", where spectators stepped onto the clay of Courts 4 and 5
- face painting, 400 junior rackets given away and a free "Little Roland-Garros Explorers" booklet for children
Is Yannick Noah Day the only day for kids?
It is the only public family day we found. The 2027 date and price have not been announced. The FFT also holds a kids' day for children from French tennis clubs (Wednesday May 27 in 2026), but it is not a public ticketed day.
Tips for a family day at the French Open
- Pick a cheaper day. In 2026 Opening Week cost €29 (€15 under 25) with unlimited access to Suzanne-Lenglen, and Yannick Noah Day was €25.
- Plan for heat. The first days of 2026 reached 33°C (91°F) and fans cooled off under sprinklers. Bring hats, sunscreen and refillable bottles; during the 2026 heatwave the water fountains were few and had queues.
- Arrive early. Every visitor passes a security checkpoint before the gates. Day-session gates open at 10:00 (9:00 on the first three days in 2026).
- Keep bags small. Only bags up to 15 liters are allowed inside. See the bag policy.
- Plan to stay inside once you enter. Partner package terms for 2026 said exits are final, so bring what the children need for the day.
