Is it hard to get French Open tickets?

Facts checked November 3, 2026 by the French Open Insider editorial team

    Short answer

For the show courts, yes. In 2026, seats on Court Philippe-Chatrier and Suzanne-Lenglen were sold through an FFT licence-holder presale and a free draw, with a limit of 4 show-court tickets per buyer. Opening Week (qualifying) and the final week's outside courts were easier: they went on first-come sale on March 31, 2026. No tickets are sold at the gates.

Why are French Open tickets so hard to get?

Far more people want show-court seats than there are seats, so Roland-Garros rations them. Since the 2025 edition the public buys through a free draw: you register with an FFT account, and if you are drawn you get a personal purchase slot. In 2026 that slot was guaranteed, "but not necessarily the tickets you want".

In 2026 one buyer could take at most 4 show-court tickets (Philippe-Chatrier, Suzanne-Lenglen and the lower stands of Simonne-Mathieu), and anyone who had used that quota in an earlier phase could not enter the draw. French tennis club members also buy first: holders of an FFT "multi-raquettes" licence had a presale from February 10, 2026, and the business site L'Essentiel de l'Éco reported about 85,000 people in its virtual queue within minutes.

How did the 2026 sale work?

Roland-Garros publishes its sale dates on tickets.rolandgarros.com. On November 3, 2026, only 2027 hospitality and travel packages were on sale there, and the first 2027 single-ticket sale announced was for FFT members, from February 23 to March 1, 2027. Our 2027 sale dates page and guide to the official sale explain each phase.

The 2026 pattern. For 2027, only the FFT members' sale is announced: February 23 to March 1, 2027.

Which days are hardest to get, and which are easier?

    • Hardest: the finals on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Saturday June 5 and Sunday June 6, 2027. A Gold seat was €420 at face value in 2026, and Roland-Garros's 2027 finals ticket-and-hotel packages (from €2,400) were sold out by November 2, 2026. See the finals tickets guide.
    • Very hard: the semi-finals and the second week on the show courts. The 2027 package prices climb from €330 for Tuesday May 25 to €620 for Wednesday June 2 and €2,000 for the semi-finals.
    • Hard: night sessions. One match on Chatrier at 20:15 Paris time (2:15 p.m. Eastern), and only 11 of them in 2026. See night session tickets.
    • Easier: Opening Week, May 17 to 21, 2027. In 2026 it was sold first come, first served at €29 a day, up to 15 tickets per buyer, with room for 20,000 visitors a day. See the qualifying guide.
    • Easier: the final week's outside courts (juniors, wheelchair tennis, Trophée des Légendes), also in the March 31 sale in 2026, from €15.
    • In between: first-week outside courts and weekdays. Outside-courts tickets cost €39 from May 24, 2026, limited to 4 per buyer. The 2027 packages for Tuesday May 25 to Thursday May 27 (€330 to €410) cost less than those for Friday May 28 to Sunday May 30 (€500). See the grounds pass guide.

What can you do if you miss the official sale?

Check the official resale platform on tickets.rolandgarros.com often: French media described it in 2026 as quickly saturated. Roland-Garros also sells ticket-and-hotel packages (travel.rolandgarros.com) and hospitality (hospitality.rolandgarros.com and three FFT-approved agencies), both on sale for 2027 by September 2026.

Independent resale marketplaces list tickets after the official sale, usually above face value. Read the seller's delivery and refund terms, and make sure the ticket will reach you in the official app, the only way in. Our where to buy guide compares the options.

    People also ask

Can you buy French Open tickets at the gate?

No. Roland-Garros stopped selling tickets at the stadium gates in 2018, and its ticketing pages say tickets cannot be bought there. Every ticket is sold online and shown in the Roland-Garros app on your phone, so buy before you travel.

How do I register for Roland-Garros tickets?

Create a free FFT account on tickets.rolandgarros.com and enter the draw while registration is open. For 2026 it ran from December 3 to 17, 2025; the 2027 general public dates were not confirmed on November 3, 2026. In 2026 entrants had to be at least 15, with one entry per person.

What is the best way to get Roland-Garros tickets?

Enter the free draw, plus the licence-holder presale if you hold an FFT multi-raquettes licence. Then try the first-come sale (Opening Week and final-week outside courts in 2026), the official resale platform, the tournament's travel packages or resale marketplaces.
