Laver Cup 2026: Alcaraz, Zverev Lead Europe to London

The 2026 Laver Cup begins September 25 at London's O2 Arena, with Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev leading Team Europe over three days, Friday to Sunday. Zverev holds the 2026 Roland-Garros and US Open titles and Alcaraz is back from a wrist injury, so the event is an early look at two of the main contenders for Roland-Garros 2027.

Update, November 2, 2026: Team Europe won 13-5, with Zverev clinching the title against Learner Tien. Read our Laver Cup 2026 results.

    The Rosters

Team Europe captain Yannick Noah picked Alcaraz, Zverev, Flavio Cobolli, Jakub Menšík, Casper Ruud and Spain's Rafael Jódar, who makes his Laver Cup debut. Team World captain Andre Agassi has Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Learner Tien, Alexander Bublik, Brandon Nakashima and Francisco Cerúndolo. Both late changes were on the World side: Nakashima replaced Ben Shelton on September 17, and Cerúndolo replaced Tommy Paul, who withdrew injured on September 12. Matches are worth one point on Friday, two on Saturday and three on Sunday, and the first team to 13 points wins.

    A Rising Name to Watch

Jódar is the main storyline beyond the two Grand Slam champions. Ranked No. 14 at the time of the event, he is the fourth-highest ranked player in Team Europe after Zverev, Alcaraz and Cobolli. Playing alongside Alcaraz and Zverev puts him in front of a global audience and gives Roland-Garros 2027 watchers a new name to follow.

    Team World Defends the Trophy

Team World is the defending champion after beating Europe 15-9 in San Francisco in September 2025, its third title in four editions after Europe won the first four. Tien, ranked No. 13, also makes his Laver Cup debut. Nakashima and Cerúndolo are the two late replacements in Agassi's team.

What It Means for Roland-Garros 2027

Zverev arrives in London as the 2026 Roland-Garros and US Open champion. Alcaraz completed his career Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January, missed Roland-Garros and Wimbledon with a right wrist injury, and returned at the US Open, where he reached the quarterfinals. A few matches in London will not decide anything about clay, but they shape early expectations for 2027.
